Terms of use

Loaf is made and sold by Edward Lee, an individual, and is available on the App Store in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. You must be at least 13 to use it.

Loaf Pro

Loaf Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly and yearly. New subscribers start with a free week where the App Store offers one — the screen where you subscribe says whether yours does. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that week ends, it renews at the price shown there, and keeps renewing at that price until you cancel. The exact price and period are shown before you are charged, in your own currency.

Payment is taken by Apple, charged to your Apple Account, and managed there. Cancel any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your iPhone — cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Loaf Pro until the period you have paid for ends. Deleting the app does not cancel it. Refunds are Apple’s to give; reportaproblem.apple.com is where to ask.

Apple emails you before a free trial converts, and the date yours ends is in Loaf’s Settings under Loaf Pro. If a price ever changes, Apple asks you before it takes effect and the subscription does not renew at the new price unless you agree.

Your photo, and your pet

The photo stays yours. You give us permission to do one thing with it: upload it, send it to OpenAI, and draw your pet from it. We delete it from our servers once the drawings are done, and the details are in the privacy policy.

You need the right to use the photo you upload — your own pet, or one you are allowed to use. Please do not upload photos of other people, or anything you would not want drawn.

Your pet is drawn by an AI model. The drawings are made for you, and you can use them — keep them, print them, post them, put them on a share card. What you cannot do is resell them as a product of their own.

What Loaf is, and is not

Loaf scores one thing: whether the phone was put down at night. It does not measure sleep, it does not know how you slept, and it makes no claim about your health. It is a small game about a drawn animal, and nothing in it is medical advice.

Your pet never suffers. Nothing you earn is taken away. That is a design promise, and it is the one thing here we would call a feature of these terms.

Fair use of the app

Do not attack the service, pull it apart to take the artwork in bulk, resell access to it, or upload anything illegal. We may suspend or end an account that does, and we will say why.

What we promise, and what we do not

We will try to keep Loaf working and to fix what breaks. But Loaf is provided as it is: we do not promise it will never be unavailable, never lose a night, or that the drawing will look exactly as you pictured it. Nothing here limits any right you have under the consumer law of the country you bought it in — in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in particular, those rights sit above anything written on this page.

Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Loaf in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending it

Delete the app whenever you like. Delete [your pet’s name] and my data in Settings ends the account and removes what we hold. Cancelling the subscription is separate and is done in the App Store.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top moves, and a change that materially affects you will be shown in the app before it takes effect.

The legal bit

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home — in which case you keep it. Apple is not a party to these terms; Apple’s own Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and where it conflicts with these terms, it wins.
